Linz Int’l Short Film Festival awards Iranian ‘Barter’

Iranian short film ‘Barter’ wins at the 2021 Linz Int’l Short Film Festival in Austria.

Iranian short film ‘Barter’ has grabbed the Best Screenplay award at the 2021 Linz International Short Film Festival (LISFF) in Austria.

Co-directed by Ziba Karamali and Emad Arad, the short film tells the story of an adolescent boy who leads his family to get involved in some incidents just because he wants to hide his secret.

Sara Bahrami and Alireza Sanifar are among the cast members of the flick.

Arad and Karamali’s short flick has already gone on screen at the Tehran International Short Film Festival in Iran, the Bolton International Film Festival in the UK, and the Huesca International Film Festival in Spain.

According to the LISFF website, “it was founded in 2018 with the aim of supporting young, talented filmmakers in their qualitative work and giving them the opportunity to present their creations in a professional setting. The thematic focus is on diversity and “independent films” with strong characters and plots, virtuoso creative and entertaining narratives”.

The fourth edition of the Austrian festival was held on September 20-25, 2021.
